Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (Accreditation Bodies)
Professional, Statutory and Regulatory Bodies (PSRBs) are 'Organisations that set the benchmark standards for, and regulate the standards of entry into, particular profession(s) and are authorised to accredit, approve or recognise specific programmes leading to the relevant professional qualification(s) - for which they may have a statutory or regulatory responsibility'. (QAA website)
PSRBs are important as they as they ensure that courses meet the professional standards and quality required, which allows students to gain the knowledge and skills they need for their future careers.
Academic Schools follow up recommendations made in PSRB accreditation processes through the internal annual review of courses and periodic review processes.
