Kent and Medway are amazing places to explore, mixing history, culture and proper adventure.

Canterbury is a 25‑minute walk from campus and packed with medieval streets, big‑name shops, cinemas, galleries, clubs and loads of places to eat. It’s creative, diverse and super student‑friendly, with beaches and woodland close by. Medway has a compact, welcoming feel, with cool cafés, bars, great facilities and the Deep End student space.

With fast links to London and even mainland Europe, plus iconic spots like Dreamland Margate and award‑winning green spaces such as Westgate Gardens, you’ll never run out of places to go.

Nobel Voices, Kent Alumni

The University of Kent is uniquely proud to have two alumni who have been awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature: Sir Kazuo Ishiguro (2017) and Abdulrazak Gurnah (2021). Through their internationally acclaimed novels, both writers have enriched global literature and deepened our understanding of identity, memory and the human condition.
