About Kent

About Kent

We are one of the country’s leading academic institutions producing world-class research, delivering outstanding teaching and serving the communities of which we are proud to be a part

We are a dynamic, creative and inclusive institution, committed to the transformative power of education and research and to the development and support of our students and staff.

We address regional, national and global challenges in an environment in which knowledge is created, shared and applied in ways that transform lives.

Our Strategy

We aim to be a community that inspires students to find and shape their place in the world, and where academics are free to explore and deepen our understanding of it

Quotation

Our students are encouraged to become global citizens, to think independently and develop original ideas. It's what makes Kent such a fascinating place to study and work."

Chancellor, Gavin Esler

Our impact

Our staff and students make a significant contribution within our local communities through volunteering, research and public service, while our international links enhance their experience through contact with different countries, cultures and experiences

Who we work with

Partnerships are at the heart of what we do and we are proud of our local, regional, national and global collaborations

Our international partnerships extend our reach into Europe and across the world

Our regional partnerships

Our regional partnerships demonstrate our central role in our county – for example, Growing Kent and Medway supports the region’s economic development, Creative Estuary helps drive the delivery of arts and culture across the region, inspiring creativity and firing imaginations, Kent and Medway Medical School directly serves our NHS and the health of the region and Eastern Arc supports collaboration across research and innovation.

We work closely with Universities at Medway, a unique partnership that brings together the University of Greenwich, the University of Kent, Canterbury Christ Church.

We are proud to be a National Portfolio Organisation of Arts Council England through our Gulbenkian arts centre which has partnerships with a wide range of arts and culture organisations across the world.

As national and international centres of expertise our Institutes play a major role in engagement with external partners and business.

Our new Signature Research Themes in the areas of Future Human, Migration and Movement and Positive Environmental Futures are beginning to establish and develop a wide range of exciting and innovative partnerships across policy, community, broadcasting and public audiences.

Through Creative Kent, we celebrate our students and staff's creative journey with us. We want to act as a beacon for how creativity can question, astonish and transform - across our campuses and the wider communities in which we live and work.
