Postgraduate accommodation

Most postgraduate accommodation agreements run for 52 weeks from Saturday 27 September 2025 until 10am on Tuesday 23 September 2026. All rooms are self-catered and fees are payable at the start of each period, in three/four instalments.

If you are undertaking a shorter academic programme, 38-week contract or less, you will need to apply for Darwin Houses. Please note contract lengths are fixed per area so only apply for accommodation that matches your academic course length.

Your accommodation agreement, which includes payment amounts and dates can be accessed through your MyAccommodation Portal account.

Most postgraduates choose self-catered, 52-week contracts, which include all vacation periods.

Affordability

The cost of living is at the front of everyone's mind right now. At Kent...

  • Rooms are available at a range of price points to suit different student budgets, with no deposit and nothing to pay until your contract begins. Accommodation prices are fixed from December/January for the following September, so they won’t increase due to energy or other cost changes.
  • All utilities are included in your accommodation fee, including water, electricity, heating, Wi-Fi and personal possessions insurance. Part-catered accommodation also includes a meal plan. All residential students receive a free Premium Plus Kent Sport membership.
  • Contract lengths match course dates so you won’t pay for months you’re not living here, with options available that exclude the Spring and Winter vacation periods.
  • We offer competitive discounted rates if you work as a ResLife Ambassador or who have agreed for their accommodation to be shown at Open Days and other prospective student events. You can also find part-time work on campus through Kent Students' Union's Jobshop or Career's Work Study programme.
