Returning student accommodation

Returning Student Accommodation

Make your home with us again for 2024/25

We've set aside a number of rooms in both Canterbury and Medway for returning students this September 2024.

"As a returning student,

The most important factors for deciding my accommodation for next year were the campus location, the ability to live with friends and all the included facilities."

What do I need to do?

It's really quick and easy to apply for returning student accommodation. All you need to do is head to our application pages and apply when they open in mid January 2024!

If you want to get ahead, from the 8 November 2023 you'll be able to register your interest for returning student accommodation, and as long as you do this before 7 January 2024 we'll email you with 24-hour early access to our application pages so you can apply early!

On the Canterbury campus:

  • The first 1,000 eligible undergraduate and postgraduate applications received are guaranteed a room offer for next year (including KMMS students).
  • Any first-year Canterbury, full-time student who lived off-campus or commuted from Pier Quays this year (2023/24) due to the accommodation being full. Please note you will also need to register your interest before 7 January 2024 to let us know.

You can apply for any accommodation option except Turing College which is reserved for new first-year students.

Demand for en-suite rooms is high so  Woolf College is again opening its doors for for returning student applications too.

Please note that availability for some room types is limited, we will endeavour to meet your individual needs when allocating your room, though this is not always possible. If you need a specific room type, please get in contact with the team as soon as possible.

Accommodation is allocated on a 'first come first served' basis, so it's always best to apply as early as possible!

Pre-register your interest

Register your interest in returning student accommodation between Wednesday 8 November 2023 and Sunday 7 January 2024 and we'll make sure you get 24 hour early access to our application pages so that you're even more likely to secure a guaranteed spot.

You can complete the form for yourself or on behalf of your friendship group - you'll just need everyone's full name and Kent email address.  We'll then email you and your group with the link to apply in mid-January before applications open.

There's no fees or obligations so registering your interest is a great option if you're thinking of living on campus next year.

Forgotten your MyAccommodation login?

You'll need this for when you apply in January, but don't worry, you can reset your password using the on-screen instructions. You'll just need your student ID number which if you can't remember can always be found on your KentOne card.

When will I find out where I will be living?

We will contact you by email to let you know if you are one of our first 1,000 applicants and have successfully secured one of our guaranteed offers on Wednesday 31 January 2024. If you don't receive this email don't worry, it does not mean you will not receive a room offer in due course, just that we can't guarantee it.

We'll then be sending an email with your accommodation offer (including information such as your block) to all applicants from late March/early April 2024 onwards depending on your application date.

file-check

Returning to live in Pier Quays at Medway

There are a lot of great benefits to living with us again in your second and third year. Providing you're a full-time student, you'll be guaranteed to receive a room offer and can live with your friends but there's more.

Same price added value.

It's true, you could apply through Unite Students as a returning student, however you'd be missing out - as we charge exactly the same price but also include a free sports membership meaning you get better value for your money with us for the same facilities.

Exclusive extra incentives when booking directly through the University of Kent:

You can apply directly through the University of Kent from mid-January 2024 for the 2024/25 academic year.

Check out our Medway FAQs for more information. If you are a current resident (who booked through the University of Kent) then check your email for your special returners offer from the Accommodation Office.

When accepting your accommodation offer you will need to make a £250 advanced rent payment. This will then be deducted from your first accommodation payment at the start of term and is non-refundable if you cancel your agreement after seven days of accepting.

If you are an MPharm student who wishes to return to live in Pier Quays you are also welcome to apply via your dedicated application link.
