What do I need to do?

It's really quick and easy to apply for returning student accommodation. All you need to do is head to our application pages and apply when they open in mid-January 2023!

If you want to get ahead, you can pre-register your interest between 1 November 2022 - 7 January 2023 and we'll email you with 24-hour early access to our application pages so you can apply early!

On the Canterbury campus:

  • The first 1,000 eligible applications received are guaranteed a room offer for next year.
  •  Additionally, any first-year Canterbury, full-time student who lived off-campus this year (2022/23) due to the accommodation being full is guaranteed an offer. Although, before applying you will need to register your interest before Saturday 7 January 2023 to let us know.

You can apply for any accommodation option except Turing College which is reserved for new first-year students.

Demand for en-suite rooms is high and as we allocate accommodation on a 'first come first served' basis it's best to apply as early as possible!

Returning KMMS students can also apply for designated Park Wood accommodation via a separate link.

For Medway students (including MPharm) returners accommodation is available at Pier Quays with exclusive sports membership included and a guaranteed room offer when booking through us.

Pre-register your interest

Register your interest in returning student accommodation between Tuesday 1 November 2022 and Saturday 7 January 2023 and we'll make sure you get 24 hour early access to our application pages so that you're even more likely to secure a guaranteed spot.

You can complete the form for yourself or on behalf of your friendship group - you'll just need everyone's full name and Kent email address.  We'll then email you and your group with the link to apply in mid-January before applications open.

There's no fees or obligations so registering your interest is a great option if you're thinking of living on campus next year.

question

Forgotten your MyAccommodation login?

You'll need this for when you apply in January, but don't worry, you can reset your password using the on-screen instructions. You'll just need your student ID number which if you can't remember can always be found on your KentOne card.

When will I find out where I will be living?

We will contact you by email to let you know if you are one of our first 1,000 applicants and have successfully secured one of our guaranteed offers from Tuesday 31 January 2023. If you don't receive this email don't worry, it does not mean you will not receive a room offer in due course, just that we can't guarantee it.

We'll then be sending an email confirming your exact room/college allocation to all applicants from early April 2023 onwards depending on your application date. So check your email regularly.

file-check

As soon as you've received your room offer you can log in to your application and accept your accommodation offer for 2023!

You'll need to accept or decline your offer before the expiry date, but you can cancel you accommodation application at any time prior to accepting your offer. Once you have accepted your offer, you will have agreed to all the usual T&Cs.

Returning to live in Pier Quays at Medway

There are a lot of great benefits to living with us again in your second and third year. Providing you're a full-time student, you'll be guaranteed to receive a room offer and can live with your friends but there's more.

Same price added value.

It's true, you could apply through Unite Students as a returning student, however you'd be missing out - as we charge exactly the same price but also include a free sports membership meaning you get better value for your money with us for the same facilities.

Exclusive extra incentives when booking directly through the University of Kent:

You can apply directly through the University of Kent from mid-January 2023 for the 2023/24 academic year. For 2023/24 you'll be able to register your interest from November.

Check out our Medway FAQs for more information. If you are a current resident (who booked through the University of Kent) then check your email for your special returners offer from the Accommodation Office.

When accepting your accommodation offer you will need to make a £250 advanced rent payment. This will then be deducted from your first accommodation payment at the start of term and is non-refundable if you cancel your agreement after seven days of accepting.

If you are an MPharm student who wishes to return to live in Pier Quays you are also welcome to apply via your dedicated application link.

Become a Residential Life Assistant (RLA)

Looking for a great opportunity to get flexible work experience alongside your studies, save money on your rent, and most importantly be part of and help create an amazing fantastic student experience for residential at Kent?

Becoming an RLA next year and joining the Residential Life Programme means you'll be in the heart of college life on campus helping to form a close knit college community. In return for actively contributing to the campus student experience, RLA's receive a significant discount on their campus accommodation! For 2022/23 this was 75% off.

The College and Community Life (CCL) Team hire returning students to become RLAs every year so find out more and apply early if this opportunity sounds right for you. Information will be available on the CCL website nearer to applications opening.

Please note, you will need to apply for accommodation separately/in addition to an RLA application made with the College and Community Life team.
