What is Clearing?

Need advice? Call us on +44 (0)1227 768896.

Every year, thousands of students use Clearing to find a university place.

You're eligible for Clearing if you have applied in the current application year, you have not withdrawn your application and one of the following criteria applies to you:

  • you applied after 30 June, OR you applied before 30 June but were not made any offers, or declined the offers made
  • you did not meet the conditions of your firm and insurance choices, and they have declined to take you, or you have declined any alternative offers

When you become eligible for Clearing, UCAS will automatically update your UCAS Track page so that you can submit a Clearing choice application.

Kent students describe what it's like to belong at Kent

For parents

Although you know they studied hard and did their best, your child hasn’t managed to secure a place at university. Don’t worry: they can still gain a place at a great institution through Clearing.

There are many reasons why a student may not hold any offers of a university place. Whatever the reason, Clearing works to benefit both applicants and universities, so it’s a win-win!

I came to Kent via Clearing so didn’t know a lot about it, but I instantly fell in love with the campus; I can’t imagine myself at any other uni.
