The pages below outline access schemes and procedures for visitors to the Templeman Library on the Canterbury campus. To find out about access to the Drill Hall Library on the Medway campus, please go to the Drill Hall Library visitors pages.
Members of the public visiting the Templeman Library can access a wide-range of electronic resources via the dedicated visitor PC on Level 2 Centre.
How do I get access?
Visitor access to e-resources is only available via the dedicated walk-in user PC on Level 2 Centre of the Templeman Library.
If you would like to access online resources, please speak to a member of staff on the IT & Library Support Desk on Level 2 Centre. You will have to fill in a form with some personal details to use the walk-in user PC and access online resources.
Once the registration process is complete the member of staff will log you into the PC and a web browser will be available for you to use. If you wish to access any of the online resources listed below, please mention this to the staff; they will then log you into the resources you wish to access.
Visitors from eduroam participating institutions with their own laptops may be able to use the eduroam Wireless Service instead, which is likely to better meet their needs.
When is the service available?
You can use the walk-in user PC during IT & Library Support Desk staffed hours in the Templeman Library .
Within IT & Library Support Desk staffed hours you can use the walk-in user PC for a minimum of 30 minutes. But if another visitor is waiting to use the PC you may be asked to finish your session at the end of that period.
Can I save or print material?
The walk-in user PC has a USB port, enabling you to save material to a memory stick. Printing is not available.
What are the conditions of use?
To access some of these resources you may need to follow login instructions and choose 'University of Kent' from a drop-down list. In-depth support for the resources is not provided by the IT & Library Support Desk, although the staff may be able to refer you to a librarian during core staffed hours (weekdays, 9am-5pm).
