The University is committed to maintaining and developing the relationship we have with our local community. We encourage our students to engage and participate in their local area by volunteering, contributing to local initiatives and participating in their local residents' association or community group.
We expect our students to have a respectful relationship with their neighbours and the local community, and the University supports them by providing information, tips and advice within its Student Guide on their transition from living on campus to becoming a local resident.
A large number of our students live off-campus, and the overwhelming majority are helpful and respectful neighbours. We advise our students to:
- keep noise levels to a minimum, especially late at night so not to disturb local residents.
- identify their bin collection dates, ensure their bins are routinely emptied and bins removed from the street as soon as possible after emptying.
- ensure gardens are clean and tidy.
- park considerately and not cause obstructions for other road users.
The University takes any issues within the local community very seriously, so if University of Kent students give any cause for concern we would ask you to contact the Community Liaison Officer.
