Police Registration

Students who are studying at the University for more than six months and hold a Tier 4 visa may be required to register with the police. Police registration generally only applies to people with certain nationalities as listed in Appendix 2 of the Immigration Rules but it is possible other nationalities may also be required to register with the police.

If you are required to register with the police, it may be stated on any of the following:

  • your entry clearance vignette
  • your BRP
  • your decision letter from the Home Office

New Registrations for Canterbury and Medway Students

If you are required to register with the police, you must do so within 7 days of arriving in the UK.

How do I book an appointment and register with the police?

  1. - visit the Kent Police website.
  2. - follow the link for the online foreign national portal to create an account,
  3. - complete the online registration and book your appointment,
  4. - attend your appointment.

 

In order to register, you will need to take with you:

  • your passport
  • your BRP
  • your decision letter from the Home Office
  • 2 passport photographs
  • £34 registration fee in cash
  • proof of your current UK address
  • your unconditional offer letter from Kent or your CAS letter
