Personal Training at the University of Kent | Kent Sport

Our Personal Training service is the perfect way to define and meet your fitness and lifestyle goals. Whether you want to lose weight, improve muscular strength, or just need some guidance in using the gym equipment, our qualified and experienced staff are on-hand to give you tailored advice and guidance. 

Personal Training is available to University of Kent students and staff, as well as members of the public. Read on for more information about our Individual and Group Personal Training options.

Please note that due to high demand for Personal Training, we are currently unable to take on new clients. We hope to be able to offer more appointments soon. 

Individual Training

  With our Individual Personal Training sessions, the focus is on you. Our qualified and experienced trainers will work with you one-to-one on your fitness goals, tailoring the content of each session to maximise your potential.   

Tailored to you

Personal Training is available for individuals who want a personalised and comprehensive programme combined with one-to-one training from an instructor suited to their training goals.

This is ideal if you’re looking to make long-term changes to your lifestyle and performance, such as:

  • Losing weight
  • Improving body composition
  • Increasing sport-specific performance
  • Increasing motivation

Working with a personal trainer is a good way to learn to exercise effectively and equip you with knowledge and confidence that will allow you to exercise effectively on your own. 

Individual Training prices and booking

Our Individual Personal Training sessions are bookable with a member of our qualified Fitness Team. All sessions are 60-minutes in length. You can block book 6 Personal Training sessions for a discounted price (6 sessions for the price of 5).

Individual Training booking

Booking your Individual Personal Training sessions is easy. 

If you have not used our Personal Training service before, you will need to complete an application form before you can book your first session. The form can be completed online, or by picking up a paper copy at the gym reception. Please complete the form and hand to a member of our staff. 

Once you have submitted the form, you will be able to book and pay for your sessions through our online booking portal. 

You will need to have a minimum of Kent Sport Pay to Play membership to book an appointment. When creating a new online booking account, a free Pay to Play membership will be given to you. 

When you book Individual Personal Training for the first time, you’ll receive a free consultation and fitness assessment to ensure the sessions are personalised to your needs and ability.  

Group Training

Our Group Training sessions are the perfect way for you and up to 3 friends to get active under the guidance of a qualified Personal Trainer.

A fun way to get active

Whether it’s circuit training, weightlifting, athletic training for sport, or even a more personalised fitness or dance style class, group training can be optimised around your needs to ensure you get the results you want.

By working with a personal trainer, you can add variety to your current workouts and bring a fresh perspective with new or more challenging exercises to maximise your potential.

Group Training is priced according to the highest Kent Sport membership tier in the group. For example, if one of your group has Premium Plus membership, the cost of one Group Training session would be just £40 for the group.

Personal Training terms and conditions

Membership:

All clients must have a minimum of Pay to Play membership to take part in our Personal Training programme. This includes all members of the Group Training option. A free Pay to Play membership is automatically given to you when you create a new online booking account. 

Payment:

All sessions must be paid for in advance of the start of each session. All sales including block and single sessions are final and cannot be refunded once purchased.

Group Training pricing:

Group Training sessions are priced according to the highest tier membership within the group. For example, if a member has a Premium Plus membership, the group will pay £40 for the session. The cost of the session can then be split between the group as they see fit. 

Session location:

All Individual Personal Training sessions will take place in the gym at the Sports Centre. All Group Personal Training sessions will take place in the fitness and dance studio. 

Session duration:

Kent Sport Personal Training sessions will be 60-minutes only. Sessions cannot be split into separate sessions of shorter time periods.  You are encouraged to arrive early for your session to warm up and complete any necessary admin beforehand.

Check In:

Please check in at the Sports Centre reception prior to all Personal Training sessions.

Cancellation Policy:

All cancellations must be received at least 24 hours before training. Clients who do not cancel within 24 hours’ notice will be charged at their trainer`s discretion. Cancellations must be made by contacting your agreed Personal Trainer directly via their staff email.

Block Sessions:

All block purchased sessions are to be used within three months of purchase. The Personal Training block booking option cannot be bought and used as mix and match sessions; for example, a purchase of 6x60-minute sessions represents 6 sessions and not 12x30 minute sessions or any other combination of shorter sessions.

Late Arrivals:

Appointments will begin and end promptly as scheduled.  Any delays to the start of a scheduled appointment due to client lateness will not be a cause to extend service beyond the remainder of the scheduled time. Lateness in excess of 15 minutes will result in cancellation of the session.
