Lunchtime Concert: Trish Clowes and Ross Stanley

Wednesday 13 March, 1.10pm, Colyer-Fergusson Hall, University of Kent

Former Radio 3 New Generation Artist, saxophonist and composer Trish Clowes, and pianist Ross Stanley have been carefully crafting their unique sound world over a number of years, including their own material, arrangements of music from jazz, folk and church organ traditions, and free improvisations. The duo have appeared at Wigmore Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall, Royal Festival Hall Galway Jazz Festival, and Cheltenham Jazz Festival, in addition to touring internationally with Clowes’s band MY IRIS.

This concert will include music by Duke Ellington, Nikki Iles, Marcel Dupré, Lili Boulanger, as well as compositions by Clowes and Stanley, two of which are dedicated to their respective heroes Wayne Shorter and John Taylor. The concert will be followed by a workshop with some of the Unviersity’s students.
