Rewards - Work Experience

Work experience placements are short-term unpaid internships, usually lasting between 2-3 weeks. Students will be expected to undertake work in their own initiative, but will be under the supervision of a mentor.

Becket Chambers

  • Mini pupillage within the Becket Chambers.

Brandspire

  • This is a marketing work experience opportunity. The successful candidate will work to co-create an innovative podcasting service tailored to help entrepreneurs launch their books. Additionally, they will design and perfect pitches aimed toward podcast audiences, create samples to be used for marketing & establish links with podcasting platforms.

Breaking Barriers

  • Opportunity to work experience in the HR team of a charity. You will focus on the implementation of our Diversity and Inclusion Strategy.

Canterbury Cathedral

  • The chance for you to work in the Archives and Library at Canterbury Cathedral.

Digitom Video Production

  • An opportunity for you to shadow the production team, working across various branded content films and potentially animation projects. This will involve planning productions, filming on location and post-production editing.

Folkstone and Hythe District Council

  • A two week placement in Organisational Development working on employee engagement survey data analysis and recommendations.

Franciscan Gardens

  • The opportunity for you to work alongside the supervisor to deliver any events and provide visitors with an engaging visit.

Fragers Ltd

  • This is opportunity to support the Medway Gaming Festival, an event which covers everything from cosplaying and gaming to wrestling and a robot arena. You could be involved with various elements, including E-sports, exhibitor logistics, social media and content marketing, health and safety and coordinating with games developers and publishers.

Head in the Game

  • Community Engagement work experience focused on tackling the stigma of mental health and reducing the number of suicides. This will entail creating and attending events, engaging with local communities and planning fundraising opportunities.

Historic Dockyard Chatham

  • The chance for you to complete a project associated with archival and documentation, exhibitions and/or item conservation.

I Do Marketing

  • The chance to experience life as a marketer. You will be invited to participate in client strategy sessions to plan marketing activities, undertake competitor analysis, develop marketing plans and create social media campaigns. You will also explore SEO, writing content and graphic design.

Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries

  • This is a chance for a two week work placement at the Institute of Cultural and Creative Industries, which will cover supporting the forthcoming bOing Festival.

Jason Dodd Photography

  • Work experience placement providing a snapshot insight into professional photography. Responsibilities will include editing, location assistance and post-production.

Kent County Council

  • This is a work experience in Governance, Law and Democracy. The opportunity for students to gain experience across this department, including Member Services, Democratic Services, Information Resilience and Transparency and Operational Delivery.

KMTV

  • KMTV are looking for video producers to work on commercial and promotional content. This will provide you with the opportunity to work in the professional television studio, work on client briefs and film on location.

Lee Evans Partnership LLP

  • The chance for you to gain experience in architecture, working on a project to redesign a building. There will also be a further project, research tasks and the chance to shadow Architects.
  • The chance for you to gain experience in the planning team. You will work on projects, undertake research on areas such as legislation and policy precedent in addition to undertaking site visits.    

Lilford Framing

  • This opportunity is a chance to assist in the gallery in preparation for their Autumn show. Preparing for the new show and organising and working the launch party will be the main focus of the placement. Duties will include receiving work from artists, emptying the galleries, hanging the show, assisting with marketing and social

Medway Council

  • The chance to undertake a work experience placement in the legal team.
  • The chance to undertake a multimedia work experience, focused on adding vibrancy to the council’s intranet pages and external website (specifically in terms of L&D and recruitment).   
  • This project will involve creating an infographic to support the Joint Strategic Needs Assessment (JSNA) in Medway. The JSNA identifies and summarises the current and future health and social care needs of Medway and covers a range of topic such as ageing well, health inequalities, improving health and wellbeing, and more. This role will involve the creation of an infographic centred on a Public Health topic in Medway. You will work under supervision to source the latest data for the chosen topic in Medway, identify key trends and figures, and learn how to present these in an accessible infographic. You will also be taught how to automate this infographic using the R programming language and R studio.

MFW Chartered Accountants

  • An opportunity to work within the accounts team working on both non-statutory accounts prepared for sole traders & partnerships, and statutory financial statements prepared for limited company clients. This will give the successful applicant an opportunity to see how these accounts flow through into the clients’ personal tax returns.

Orchard Community Energy

  • A marketing work experience opportunity to work with a small community owned solar farm. You will be tasked with producing social media content and updating websites.

Porchlight

  • A remote statistics placement, where you will be tasked with analysing data and providing reports and recommendations.

Powell-Cotton Museum

  • This is an opportunity to be a collection project assistant. You will be part of a team working to undertake a significant collection care project at the Powell-Cotton Museum (PCM). With over 20,000 historic African objects, 6,500 mammal specimens from Africa and India, and fine and decorative arts from across Asia, the PC M’s collection is expansive, important and world-renowned. We are currently cleaning, documenting and rehousing a significant proportion of our collection.    

RIFT Social Enterprise

  • This opportunity is a remote research and analysis placement. It will be conducting market research and analysis, developing a social impact assessment framework to apply to evaluate any offerings, assist in brainstorming new services based on market trends & prepare a final presentation summarising your findings and recommendations.

Royal Engineers Museum

  • Placements focused on working with the Museum’s collection, including cataloguing, auditing and displays. This is perfect if you are interested in working in the heritage sector.

Sandwich Guildhall Museum

  • An opportunity to support the work of the museum, which could include working on the collections, education and learning programme, general museum operations, setting-up temporary exhibitions and/or facilitating museum events.

Scaramanga Agency

  • An opportunity to experience all aspects of marketing; campaign analysis, writing newsletters, social media management, campaign building, client research and much more!

Stilwell & Singleton

  • A two week legal placement, covering conveyancing.

Swale Borough Council

  • The chance for you to undertake a placement supporting the Climate Change activities and policy within the council. Work experience will include corporate and service planning, business insight, equalities, performance management, policy development and scrutiny.

University of Kent: Procurement

  • A work experience opportunity in the Procurement Team. This will potentially cover regulations and legislations, tender construction, evaluation, award and dispute resolution; supplier and information management and data analysis.

Voice Talent Online

  • You will be working on Digital Marketing with a former University of Kent Graduate.
  • You will be working with the Production Supervisor, learning about assessment, cleaning and production of voice over audio.
  • You will be working on Full Stack Development – working under a Microsoft expert to develop our data management system.
  • This work experience opportunity is working in Business Development – working with our Sales manager in Customer Relationship Management.
  • This work experience opportunity is working in Videography – filming and post-production of this 2024’s Voice Over Workshop (20 x 7-year olds, participating in a very hands-on recording & production experience).

WEA: Adults Learning Within Reach
