The Royal Engineers Museum is Kent's largest military museum. It holds its own Designated Collection of historical and international importance. The numerous galleries tell the story of Britain's military engineers from the Roman period to the modern Corps of Royal Engineers.

Work Experience

Opportunity details: Placements focused on working with the Museum’s collection, including cataloguing, auditing and displays. This is perfect if you are interested in working in the heritage sector. 

Location: Medway, Kent.

Dates: 2 weeks – dates to be confirmed between you and the employer. Work to be undertaken between June and September 2024.

Post-September: Yes - if you are a postgraduate student and unable to work during the summer due to visa and/or academic constraints, you can undertake this placement September-November 2024.

Remote working: This role cannot be undertaken remotely.

Travel costs: Unfortunately, travel assistance will not be available for this reward. (The Careers and Employability may be able to support with travel expenses, within reason, as outlined in the introduction of the Rewards Pack.)

Additional criteria: An interest in history/heritage. You must be able to commute to Medway.

Opportunity details: A chance to gain a guided tour of the archive and collections. This will provide exclusive access to the museum’s collection, including the chance to handle rare items and visit the armoury.
