My role involves working across the University to ensure we minimise our impacts on the environment and that we embed sustainability into everything we do. Day to day I can be doing anything from writing key strategies for the delivery of sustainability to advising schools and departments on legal compliance. Luckily I still get to spend plenty of time out and about on campus raising awareness and promoting what we do. 

I am passionate about supporting natural habitats, taking action for biodiversity and engaging people with wildlife.
I spend a lot of time working with the Landscape and Grounds Team, as well as the Durrell Institute for Conservation and Ecology, helping to support the natural spaces on campus. Engaging people with wildlife helps us protect what we have on campus, enhance habitats, as well as supporting people's wellbeing.  I also help run the Kent Community Oasis Garden with East Kent Mind which is a wonderful space on the Canterbury Campus where students and staff can come and learn how to grow food, connect with nature, and get away from their busy schedules.    

Half of my role provides administrative and project support to environmental sustainability and the other half supports the health and safety team at Kent.  My sustainability work encompasses our Environmental Management System (EMS) compliance, website and SharePoint support. The project work is quite varied, anything from data analysis to project managing the University's adoption of LEAF (Laboratory Efficiency Assessment Framework).
