Dr. Ceridwen Evans
Dr. Ceridwen Evans is a Lecturer in Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities at the Tizard Centre, School of Psychology, University of Kent. She completed her undergraduate degree in BSc Psychology (2025) and MSc in Applied Behaviour Analysis (2016) at Bangor University, Wales. She then worked in the fields of adult learning disability services and special education before achieving a scholarship-funded PhD, back at Bangor University, in the field of Psychology and Education.
Dr. Evans joined the University of Kent in 2021 and is currently the Programme Director for the Tizard Centre’s MSc in Intellectual Disabilities and Autism, where she convenes and teaches across a number of postgraduate modules for the course. She also convenes and teaches on undergraduate modules for the School of Psychology and further serves as an Associate Editor for the Tizard Learning Disability Review.
Outside of her role at the University Dr. Evans acts as a trustee for a local Kent-based charity specialising in providing day activities and educational opportunities for adults with intellectual (learning) disabilities, and is a Network Member of the Sharland Foundation Research and Impact Network (SF-DDARIN).
Dr. Evans’ research interests focus on Active Support for children and adults with intellectual disabilities and/or are autistic, Quality of Life measurement and improvement, and evaluations of service quality.
She is experienced in both qualitative and quantitative research, and much of her own research has focused on staff-training methods to improve the quality of support provided by support staff in intellectual (learning) disability services, as well as methods to improve practice leadership and foster organisational change.
