Black and white photograph of the earliest known portrait of Dion Boucicault, by Edward Henry Corbould, showing Boucicault in his role as Sir Alan Raby in THE VAMPIRE. The painting was commissioned by Queen Victoria. Copyright notice on the back - "Copyright reserved to H.M. the Queen. Not to be reproduced without written permission of the Librarian. Windsor Castle, Windsor. Berkshire". The play was first performed at the Princess's Theatre in June 1852; it is likely that the painting was commissioned soon after.
