  • Brief description: This file consists of 26 press reports, photographs from various newspapers during the period of the Spanish Civil War and the Second World War. There are also cuttings and letters etc. from the Manchester Guardian pasted onto 24 quarto lined sheets. These sheets orginally in a primitive ring-binder have cuttings from the 1938 "appeasement" period. Some of the letters printed are from Johnson himself. A second group of similar leaves (also 24) concentrate on Spain, but with other subjects from this period.
