  • Brief description: This diary was sent to Hewlett Johnson with an accompanying letter from 'Kittie', possibly a neice of his. It was written by Hewlett Johnson's father during the months of June, July and August 1869. There are full page daily entries dealing with aspects of his business activities in some detail. These include notes of appointments and descriptions of visits to customers, old and new, throughout the country with mention of such areas as London, Bristol, Taunton, Maidstone etc. He also makes a note of Monday 3rd July as his fortieth birthday.The diary was accompanied by a letter from 'Kittie', a niece?, sending it to Hewlett Johnson.
