About

Dr Brown completed his PhD as a part-time student. He completed a Graduate Diploma in Applied Psychology and holds an MA in Autism Studies also gained at the Tizard Centre.

Dr Brown is an independent Special Needs Advisor who has worked with people with intellectual and developmental disabilities for over 30 years, including working within the SOTSEC-ID framework for men who sexually offend. Since 2000 his work has centred upon children and young adults especially issues relating to puberty, sexuality and the display of inappropriate sexualised behaviour.  

Research interests

Dr Brown's PhD involved researching the effectiveness of the National Curriculum based sex and relationships programme (SRE) for children and young adults with Autistic Spectrum Disorder or Asperger's Syndrome. In addition, the research also explored the support and services available for children and young adults who may display inappropriate sexualised behaviour.
