Institute of Physics Juno Representative,
EDI Lead
Dr Emma Pugh is a Lecturer in Physics in the School of Physics and Astronomy and the Institute of Physics Juno Representative for the department.
Dr Emma Pugh's research interests lie in the area of condensed matter physics and, in particular, magnetism, superconductivity, quantum critical phenomena and novel states of correlated electron systems. She uses a number of techniques in her research, such as low noise resistivity and ac-susceptibility measurements, with low temperature, high pressure and high magnetic field sample environments. She also makes use of central facilities including X-ray and neutron scattering centres to investigate structure and magnetic properties of materials.
Emma teaches on a number of physics modules including mechanics, solid state physics, quantum mechanics, laboratory classes and the undergraduate physics research project.
