Join us on Wednesday 18 November at our Postgraduate Virtual Open Event. Meet and talk to specialist academics and admissions staff about postgraduate study in the UK and Europe.
Designed to meet the needs of business and industry, the MSc in Management offers unique insights on contemporary issues in the global economy. Through its varied modules that cover the most relevant and current issues relating to management, it equips graduates for transition into doctoral studies or a career in business and management.
Develop your leadership skills in relation to decision making, problem solving, team working, negotiation and employee performance management. You gain the skills and knowledge essential for managing key areas of organisations, including accounting, human resources, quantitative methods, marketing, strategy and operations. Study innovation and entrepreneurship, and learn how to create and manage sustainable businesses.
This MSc equips you with the necessary tools, techniques and concepts to understand how business is conducted and the various challenges facing managers from an operational and strategic perspective.
Throughout the programme you develop an international perspective on management by applying the skills and knowledge you learn to real-world situations. As part of your studies, you can spend a week in Brussels, home to the European Union, NATO and many other international organisations.
For students who wish to enhance their employability further, this programme offers the opportunity to undertake work experience in the UK or overseas, through the option to undertake the programme with an additional industrial placement of up to 12 months. Although not compulsory, students undertaking the industrial placement often enhance the breadth and depth of their knowledge learned via the first-hand experience gained. Students who wish to undertake this programme without the placement option will utilise extensive industry case studies in order to complete the management consultancy report.
Placements are self-sought and can range from an additional 12 to 50 weeks. This would extend the normal 12 month Masters programme to a maximum of 24 months.
The School offers support to those students seeking the industrial placement option, through extra-curricular engagement with our dedicated placements team. Our dedicated placement team can help you gain a suitable paid position and provide support throughout your placement. Students considering this option should be aware that they will be required to successfully complete all stage 1 modules and that there may be additional costs for students in terms of visa extensions, Immigration Health Surcharge (IHS) and accommodation, for example.
Through the first-hand, practical experience – derived from the Brussels field trip and industry placement/or industry study– and a comprehensive range of both mandatory and optional modules, you will be equipped with the knowledge and skills to succeed in your career in business and management, or transition into doctoral studies.
As a student on the Management programme, you also have the opportunity to gain the Chartered Management Institute (CMI) Level 7 certificate in Professional Consulting and the (CMI) Level 7 certificate in Strategic Management and Leadership.
