Kent's 50th Anniversary PhD Research Scholarships
In preparation for the University’s 50th anniversary in 2015, Kent has established an additional 100 doctoral scholarships to be awarded annually from 2012. Known as Kent’s 50th Anniversary Scholars, successful candidates will demonstrate academic excellence and outstanding research potential. Scholarships will be offered at the standard RCUK rate; applications are invited from UK/EU and international students.

These are based on laboratory research projects and do not preclude the possibility, that a bench-fee may be levied for certain specific projects.
Home / EU students
Most students will apply for studentships which have been awarded to either the school or individuals from the Research Councils. These are advertisedannually and will pay the course fees and a subsistence grant. The valueof these vary between the Research councils but details may be found at the following sites (NB Applications for funding are made via the school and NOT direct to the Research Councils)

- Medical Research Council (MRC)
- Engineering & Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC)
- Natural Environment Research Council (NERC)
- Wellcome Trust
- Other studentships and sources of financial support, via the School, University or other sources, may be available.

We will assist students to obtain this funding providing that all references, research proposals (where required) and supplementary information is provided to the prospective supervisor as soon as possible.
