Kent's 50th Anniversary PhD Research Scholarships

In preparation for the University’s 50th anniversary in 2015, Kent has established an additional 100 doctoral scholarships to be awarded annually from 2012.  Known as Kent’s 50th Anniversary Scholars, successful candidates will demonstrate academic excellence and outstanding research potential.  Scholarships will be offered at the standard RCUK rate; applications are invited from UK/EU and international students.

Kent provides a dynamic and challenging academic environment and has an excellent reputation for collaborative research with universities around the world.

For more information about Kent’s research portfolio and how to apply see: www.kent.ac.uk/pg

It is not intended to be a definitive guide to funding but will, we hope, allow prospective students to have a clearer understanding of the funding sources that they may be eligible for and / or that we may help them to secure.

Up to date information on fees and funding can be viewed at:

http://www.kent.ac.uk/courses/funding/postgraduate/index.html

These are based on laboratory research projects and do not preclude the possibility, that a bench-fee may be levied for certain specific projects.

Home / EU students

Most students will apply for studentships which have been awarded to either the school or individuals from the Research Councils. These are advertisedannually and will pay the course fees and a subsistence grant. The valueof these vary between the Research councils but details may be found at the following sites (NB Applications for funding are made via the school and NOT direct to the Research Councils)

Obviously, all sources of funding are competitive and if prospective students are unsuccessful in obtaining any of the above they may wish to investigate other funding avenues. Additionally, further information and guidance on funding postgraduate education maybe found at:

http://www.kent.ac.uk/courses/funding/postgraduate/sources/index.html

International

Details on funding opportunities for International students may be found at http://www.kent.ac.uk/scholarships/postgraduate/international/index.html

We will assist students to obtain this funding providing that all references, research proposals (where required) and supplementary information is provided to the prospective supervisor as soon as possible.

In summary, if you wish to undertake postgraduate study within the School of Biosciences at the University of Kent please don’t hesitate to contact us.
