Gender relations after #MeToo: what does the future hold?

The future of gender relations after the #MeToo movement will be debated at a special open event at the University on 6 June.

Entitled What Now? The Future of Gender Relations after #MeToo, the event, hosted by the University’s School of Psychology, will begin at 14:00 with two keynote speeches, followed by an opportunity for members of the public to debate the issues discussed.

In the first keynote, Professor Michelle Ryan, of the University of Exeter, will present After #MeToo: Rethinking how we think about gender and sexism. This will be followed by Dr Finn Mackay, of the University of the West of England, who will deliver Feminism Interrupted: The revolution will not be on a tee-shirt.

The day will also feature a panel discussion focusing on what needs to be done to end sexual violence toward women and girls. This University of Kent panel of researchers will be chaired by Dr Afroditi Pina, an expert in forensic psychology and include sociologist Dr Heejung Chung, criminologist Dr Marian Duggan and legal expert Professor Erika Rackley.

The event runs from 14:00 till 19.00, followed by a drinks reception. It is free and open to all but prior registration is required at the event website here.
