Services for visitors to the Templeman Library
The Templeman Library welcomes visitors between 8am and 9pm (see the Library's opening hours), and we look forward to meeting you when you visit.
While the main function of the Library is to serve members of the University, we have a range of services for visitors.
Using books and resources in the Library
You are welcome to use the Templeman Library's collections for reference purposes. This includes material:
- in the Core Text Collection, but this can't be taken to other parts of the Library
- from the Reserve Collection and other Library Stores
For copyright reasons, we can't make subscription digital resources available to you, except those provided on a dedicated visitor PC. The recommended free resources at the bottom of these a-z pages have been selected by our academic librarians.
University of Greenwich staff and students registered at the Medway campus and living in the Canterbury area can join the INVICTA Access scheme.
Other academic visitors: if you belong to another Higher Education Institution you may be able to borrow from the Templeman Library via the SCONUL Access scheme. Check with your own institution's Library for information on access to other libraries.
If the above schemes are not relevant to you, you could choose one of our Templeman Library borrower membership options (charges may apply).
Special Collections & Archives
Our Special Collections & Archives hold unique collections on a wide range of subjects, including rare books, political cartoons, theatre, stand-up comedy, wind and water mills, the history of science and Kent local history.
Anyone is welcome to access the collections – make an appointment to view material.
