Arrivals Weekend: Key information

How to complete your registration, pick up your KentOne student ID card and move into your accommodation.

Remember: You will not become a registered student until you report, in person, during Arrivals Weekend on 16-17 September 2017 and you are issued your KentOne (student ID) card.

Documents to have ready on arrival

Make sure you have these documents to hand (not packed in your luggage):

Photographic ID:

  • UK students: Passport
  • EU students (excluding the UK): Passport or EU identity card
  • International students: Passport and visa.

We will be unable to register you if you cannot provide the required identification. You will not be issued your KentOne card or classed as a student until this is complete. A passport will be required as official ID when opening a bank account, applying for work or verifying your age. The University therefore encourages all students to obtain a passport. If you do not have a passport, please contact us prior to your arrival at

Other documents:

  • University or College Payment Advice letter from Student Finance England (if relevant) which must be scanned by staff from the Financial Aid Office. Once your letter has been scanned, this will trigger any loan or grant payments.
  • Proof of qualifications (if required)
  • Visa documentation (if relevant). This must be scanned by a member of the registration team
  • Your accommodation agreement.

Go to your accommodation, collect your key, unload your car

Please collect your key from Liberty Quays reception.

Parking at Liberty Quays

Parking is controlled by a third party. Any stay is strictly limited to 15 minutes and penalties may apply. Plese call Liberty Quays on +44 (0) 1634 853285 to book an arrival slot.

Move your car to Drill Hall Library car park after you've unpacked the car.

Move your car to the Drill Hall car park on campus

Once you have unloaded your belongings at Liberty Quays, please make your way back to the Medway campus and park your car in the Drill Hall car park (see Google map) which is free to University of Kent visitors.

A free shuttle bus will be operating between 9.00 and 15.30 to take you to and from the campus to Liberty Quays. The walk from the Drill Hall car park to Liberty Quays is along Pier Road and takes approximately ten minutes.

Complete your registration

You must register to become a member of the University. In order to register, you must have already enrolled online.

What's the difference between enrolment and registration?

  • Enrolment: Enables the University to gather essential information about you, your programme of study, and if you are entitled to receive money from the Student Loans Company (SLC).
  • Registration: Confirmation that you have taken up your place and commenced your programme of study.

If you do not enrol, you won't be able to register. If you register but do not enrol, you will have your access to University facilities withdrawn.

Where to register

Please make your way to the Pilkington Building (see Google map) to complete your registration.

Registration is open at the following times:

  • Saturday 16 September    09.30 – 15.30
  • Sunday 17 September      09.30 – 15.00

While there you will need to

  • Visa and passport check
    (if relevant)
  • Biometric Residence Permit
    (BRP) collection (if relevant)
  • Register
  • Collect KentOne (student ID)
  • Qualifications check
    (if relevant)
  • Pay tuition fees
  • Pay accommodation fees
  • Visit information stands

Accommodation fees

Your accommodation fees should be paid to Liberty Quays directly. Please refer to your accommodation agreement for details of how to pay your fees.

After registration - finding your way around

After registration, please feel free to enjoy the towns and campus.

Registering after Arrivals weekend

Anyone wishing to register after Arrivals Weekend should go to the Student Administration Desk in the Gillingham Building, Monday to Friday, between 10.00 and 16.00
