About

Phil joined the University of Kent in 2018 after working at Canterbury Christ Church University for four years as a university instructor in the department of Sport and Exercise Science.  During this time Phil taught a number of different modules while conducting a PhD investigating training methods that improve running performance.  

Phil leads the University’s E-Learning Team and is responsible for supporting and developing the use of technology in learning and teaching at the University of Kent.  

Phil holds a PGCAP (Post Graduate Certificate in Academic Practice) and is a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (SFHEA). Phil is able to draw on his teaching experience and technical expertise in order to advise on enhancing student learning through the use of learning technologies.

Phil’s other interests include endurance sports and he was a member of the Great Britain Team for Triathlon, Duathlon and Running.  Phil’s most recent sporting achievements include finishing 20th in the London Marathon and setting a Guinness world record for the time taken to run 100km on a treadmill.
