Chair: Chair of the Council (ex officio), John Simmonds (to 31.7.2014).
Members: Chair of the Finance and Resources Committee/Deputy Chair of the Council, Tony Quigley (to 31.7.2014)
Two lay members of theCouncil, (Lord Hannay (to 31.7.2012) and tbc)
and for business relating to the Senior Deputy Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellors, Pro-Vice-Chancellors and the Secretary of the Council: Vice-Chancellor (Professor Dame Julia Goodfellow).
Secretary: Margaret Ayers, Director of Human Resources (M.Ayers@kent.ac.uk).
Quorum: 3 members (to include the Vice-Chancellor for appropriate business and subject to the missing member(s) providing written comments on the proposals under consideration).
Frequency of meetings: 1-2 p.a.
Terms of Reference
(i) to determine the salaries of the Vice-Chancellor, Deputy Vice-Chancellor(s), Pro-Vice-Chancellors, and the Secretary of the Council (amended December 2005).
(ii) to determine any governance or early retirement arrangements relating to senior staff, as defined from time to time by the funding council and in the context of the University’s policy statement on severance (added March 2004).
Note: The Committee also deals with the level of Responsibility Allowances, the associated time allocations, and any related matters, for members of staff in receipt of such allowances (as amended by Council in December 1999).
