Court

With effect from 1st August 2026, Court ceased to have a formal governance role in the University of Kent. However, previous members of Court continue to be important stakeholders. The Court of the University which was established under the Charter shall have had such powers and functions as were delegated to it by the Council. Its membership included representatives from many sections of the local and national community as well as the University’s principal officers ex officio, elected representatives of staff and students and graduates of the University.

The Court was chaired by the Chancellor and at its annual meeting a review of the University and the Annual Accounts were presented.

Previous members of Court are encouraged to remain in touch with the University's Development and Alumni Engagement team  to be part of future engagements and events. They may also contact the Governance team through councilsec@kent.ac.uk.
