Broadcast: Dr Dawn Nicholson comments on new Hybrid Working Report for BBC Kent

The flexible working revolution caused by the global pandemic has caused an entire shift in our working culture. What elements of our working lives will return to ‘normal’, and what aspects are important to retain?

Business Psychologist Dr Dawn Nicholson spoke to BBC Radio Kent about working from Home in light of a new report published by Advanced Workplace Associates (The AWA Hybrid Working Index Report).

AWA’s global Hybrid Working Index Report, representing nearly 80,000 employees across 80 offices in 13 countries, has revealed that on an average day two thirds of desks are unused, and just over a quarter of people are coming into the offices, with the attendance figure dropping to just 12% on Fridays.

“There’s research that suggests that we can’t generate as many ideas on screen as we can in the same room.”

The report, conducted during June and July 2022, has found that if companies have no hybrid working policies, less than a fifth of staff come in on average. However even if organisations insist people come in three days a week, attendance averages just 42%.
