Dr Todd Mei


Dr Todd Mei was former Senior Lecturer and Head of Philosophy at the University of Kent. He is currently a researcher, writer, and consultant in personal and organizational development, fintech, and economics, where he applies his research specialisms in the philosophy of meaningful work, existentialism, hermeneutics, and ethics. He is founder of Philosophy2u, an open resource on creating meaningful work, and is the editor of The Meaningful Work Newsletter.

From 2008 to 2012, Todd was a lecturer in the Department of Philosophy and the Department of Religious Studies at the University of Kent and, from 2012 to 2015, he was a lecturer in philosophy at the University of Dundee.

Todd is an Editorial Board Member for the journal Études Ricoeuriennes/Ricoeur Studies and was president of the Society for Ricoeur Studies (2016-2018).

Research interests

Although no longer in academia, Todd is research active in the sub-fields of meaningful work, the philosophy of technology & AI, and hermeneutics. He has several peer-reviewed publications with Northwestern University Press, The Journal of the History of PhilosophyThe Review of Metaphysics, and Continental Philosophy Review.
