Dr Rizwan Ahmed

Dr Rizwan Ahmed is a Senior Lecturer in Accounting and Finance at the University of Kent. Before joining the University, he gained wide-ranging teaching, research and leadership experience as an Assistant Professor and seminar leader at the University of Birmingham, Cardiff Business School, Birkbeck, University of London, University of Huddersfield, and the University of Hull.

Rizwan has established brand new programmes and experience of launching successfully new programmes internationally including Dubai and Singapore whilst at University of Birmingham.

Rizwan is a successful recipient of the Fellowship of HEA – UK in teaching, and has also completed the FinTech programme from University of Oxford. In addition, he has a professional qualification from the Chartered Institute of Securities and Investment (CISI-UK) and is an Associate Fellow Member of CISI-UK.

Rizwan is a professional financial adviser and completed the qualification of financial adviser from London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF).

Rizwan is experienced in research funding projects in the UK and raised £200,000 with peer members from the Economic and Social Research Council (ESRC) on a joint project with the University of Hul and University of Leicester.

Rizwan's research interests are in sustainable finance, green finance, FinTech and corporate governance. His papers have been published in reputable international journals and are of high impact. His most recent paper has been selected by the World Health Organisation (WHO) on Event Studies associated with Covid-19.

He has published in the high-rank Journals such as Energy Economics, International Journal of Finance and Economics, Annals of Operational Research, Journal of Environmental Management and Technological Forecasting & Social Change.

Rizwan has extensive teaching experience in Accounting and finance subjects with exemplary feedback. He has taught various modules such as Derivatives, Risk management, advance corporate finance, financial accounting, financial reporting and analysis and international business. 

Rizwan welcomes PhD applications related to his primary research areas:
