Undergraduate entry requirements

For entry to year 1 of our undergraduate degree programmes, we usually require students from Azerbaijan to have already successfully completed a suitable foundation programme at a recognised institution. Offer levels vary depending on the course and some courses may state specific required subjects.

Students may also gain entry to year 1 of our undergraduate degree programmes if they have successfully completed 1 or 2 years of an undergraduate degree at a recognised university in Azerbaijan with a cumulative GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0 or 7.0 out of 10.

English Language Requirements:

If English is not your first language, you will need to demonstrate your English language ability. The University of Kent accepts:

  • IELTS 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in Reading and Writing
  • We also accept Cambridge Certificate of Proficiency Grade C, and Cambridge Advanced Certificate Grade B.

For detailed information, please see our English language entry requirements. If you need to raise your English language skills to the equivalent of 6.5 or 7.0 in IELTS (meeting level B2, as specified by the UKVI), you can attend one of our intensive pre-sessional courses. These courses prepare you for studying in English at undergraduate or postgraduate level and help you to gain the skills required by your chosen academic school. Satisfactory achievement on one of these courses can be used to meet Kent’s English language entry requirements in place of other external language examinations.

There are three pre-sessional courses available at our Canterbury campus (the six-week and 12-week courses can also be taken at advanced level):

  • Six weeks beginning in August
  • 12 weeks beginning in June
  • 19 weeks beginning in May

How to apply:

The Universities and Colleges Admissions System (UCAS) is a national system. It allows you to apply for a place at up to five UK universities. Simply complete the online form at www.ucas.com/apply.

  • Students from the European Union are advised to apply by 15 January.
  • Students from outside the European Union should aim for 15 January to guarantee consideration. However, if places are left we may consider applications up to 30 June.

For advice on any aspect of your application, contact our International Development team, or one of our overseas representatives. If your application is successful, you will receive an offer from Kent. There are two types of offer: an 'unconditional offer' guarantees you a place on the course; a ‘conditional offer’ is based on certain conditions, such as examination results.

Late applications:

UCAS ‘clearing’ takes place in August. Kent lists all of the degrees that still have places and this can give you another chance to apply. For further guidance on how to apply through UCAS, please click here.
