Student 18+ Oyster card
About Oyster card
New Students: We cannot approve applications until you become a registered student. You will become registered once you have arrived in person and received your KentOne ID card.
Oyster is a plastic smartcard that can be used instead of paper tickets on public transport in London.
Transport for London (TFL) requires the University to validate all 18+ Oyster card applications made by Kent students.
How to apply for a Student 18+ Oyster card
- On the TFL Get Photocard site, click View list of all available establishments and choose University of Kent.
- Click Apply now and follow the steps to complete your application. Note that you will need to upload a photo and pay a £10.00 fee as part of this process.
What happens next?
When TFL notifies us of an application, we check that the applicant is a University of Kent student registered for the current academic year, and if so, approve it.
Once we have approved an application we have no control over how long it will take for the card to be issued by TFL.
Student Oyster card enquiries
The University is only able to confirm whether an application from a Kent student has been validated.
All other enquiries should be made to Transport for London.
