The music industry is now multi-faceted and inter-connected, and practitioners need an understanding of all functions and processes within the industry in order to succeed. Engaging with performance techniques also requires a knowledge of music computer programming, marketing, and production.

At Kent, our unique music BA therefore allows you to explore pathways in music business, performance, or audio technology. This equips you with the skills and knowledge that are needed to make your degree and your career your own, aligned with your interests and passions.

Course structure

Our degree is flexible: with few compulsory modules you have the freedom to make your degree your own. Our staff have a broad range of experience, from our expert academic staff to our highly qualified technicians and practising professionals. Together they support, develop, challenge and inspire you throughout your studies.

How you'll study

We use a variety of teaching methods including practical and technical workshops, performance platforms, seminars, lectures and group projects. Methods of assessment will vary according to subject specialism and individual modules.

Develop skills in our spatial audio studio, Foley studio, ensemble rehearsal spaces, practice rooms, Solid State Logic (SSL) studio, flagship AMS Neve recording studio and our Music and Audio Arts Sound Theatre (MAAST).
