Ugo Gaudino is a PhD candidate in International Relations and a Graduate Teaching Assistant at the University of Kent, where he joined the School of Politics and International Relations in September 2019. He holds a Master's degree in International Relations (2015-17) from La Sapienza University (Rome) and a MA in 'Economy and Institutions of Islamic Countries' at LUISS University (Rome) in 2019. He has spent a research period at the Centre for International Studies (Sciences-Po, Paris) in 2020-21.

Ugo is writing a thesis about securitization of Islam in Western Europe. He looks at how both Right and Left-wing parties argue that Muslims are a threat to security. In particular, he focuses on counter-terrorism discourses and policies.
