Ugo joined the School of Politics and International Relations in September 2019 as a GTA and a PhD student in International Relations. He holds a BA in Political Science (2012-15) and a Master's degree in International Relations (2015-17) from La Sapienza University (Rome). He completed a Master of Arts in 'Economy and Institutions of Islamic Countries' at LUISS University (Rome) in 2019.
During his MA, he spent one term at the École normale superieure (Paris), where he carried out a research on Muslim communities in France. His project is located in the sub-field of critical security studies and it addresses the securitization and de-securitization of Islam in Europe in the age of national-populism. Ugo is highly interested in IR theory, security studies, religion and international politics, terrorism studies, with a specific focus on the Mediterranean geopolitical space.
