Victorian and Edwardian Theatre:
Spring Term 2013
During the spring term, this module was taught largely in Special Collections, with an emphasis upon the use of archives in research of nineteenth and early twentieth century theatre.
In groups, the drama students chose a topic which interested them to explore further, using primary sources from the University's extensive Theatre and Performance Archives.
A physical exhibition of their findings is on display in the Templeman Gallery (L1 East) from 26 March until the beginning on May 2013. In addition, the students created digital exhibitions to stand alongside their work in the Library and to allow them to develop their ideas further.
For links to the websites and a brief summary of each group's work, have a look at the tabs below.
The exhibition launch took place 5pm on Tuesday 26 March in the Templeman Gallery space.
Guests were treated to a short pantomime written and performed by the enterprising students of the module to introduce the exhibition and demonstrate all the work which had gone into its creation. With an impressive turnout, the students spent the rest of the event answering questions, discussing their work and spreading their enthusiasm for theatre history and the collections.
