We understand that a Master's degree represents a significant financial undertaking. That's why the Centre for Journalism offers scholarships for Home/EU students undertaking the MA Multimedia Journalism programme. Two scholarships are awarded each year that will cover 50% of tuition fees at the Home/EU rate for 1 year.
To be eligible for the scholarships, candidates must make a formal application for postgraduate study at the University of Kent and must hold an offer for the MA Multimedia Journalism programme. Candidates must submit a letter of application, to include an explanation of why they want to be a journalist.
This is to be sent with a degree certificate by post to: Professor Tim Luckhurst University of Kent Centre for Journalism Gillingham Building Chatham Maritime Kent ME4 4AG
Deadline for receipt of applications is usually in the final week of September, but contact the Centre for more details.
In addition we have two highly-prestigious externally-funded scholarships: The Daily Mail Scholarship is worth £5,000 and an invaluable placement with the newspaper. This is awarded to a student on the Multimedia Journalism MA course. The deadline for applications to this scholarship is usually in January.
The Stationers' Foundation Postgraduate Bursary is worth £6,000 to a student holding an offer of a place on the MA in Multimedia Journalism. The successful applicant will also be mentored by a senior professional journalist from the Stationers' Foundation - the charitable arm of the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers. The deadline for applications is usually in early June for students planning to start their postgraduate course in September. More details on the application process are available here.
We also encourage students to apply to the NCTJ's Journalism Diversity Fund, which provides bursaries to students from diverse backgrounds who need help with their funding.
