Thanks to our excellent working relationship with Kent's biggest journalism organisation,The Kent Messenger Group, all our students - undergraduate and postgraduate - have access to work placements at one of the KM newsdesks during the course of their degrees.
The KM Group is a 150-year-old company that owns newspapers, radio stations and community web sites throughout the county.
Your placement - usually in either the easter or summer vacations - will see you working alongside professional journalists producing output for one or more of its platforms.
Many of our students have produced brilliant work during their placements. Some even come back having written the front-page splash. In several cases, their work placement has ultimately led to a full-time job.
Students also have the opportunity to work as interns at KMTV, the local television news service for Kent which is located in the Centre for Journalism and run as a 50/50 partnership between the University of Kent and the KM group.
Additional work experience opportunities are available with SKY News, Associated Newspapers, BBC News, ITV Meridian and many other newspaper, broadcast and online news suppliers.
