About

Dr. Sanz received the B.Sc. from the ULPGC, Spain, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Kent, U.K. He holds a Masters in Business Administration degree (MBA) from Canterbury Christ Church University, UK. Before becoming a lecturer in 2013, he was a Research Associate with the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, working on EPSRC-funded projects. In 2012, he worked for Harada Industries Ltd on novel antennas for the automotive industry. In 2017, he was visiting fellow at Leonardo U.K where he worked on reconfigurable antennas for the defence industry. From 2015 to 2018, he was EPSRC High Value Manufacture fellow, which involved working with the Centre of Process Innovation to develop Innovative 3D printing solutions for antenna applications.

Research interests

He is currently working on projects in the area of additive manufacturing (3D printing) of electromagnetic devices, metasurfaces, base station antennas, filtering antennas, MIMO antennas and reconfigurable RF lenses. His research has been funded by the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the EPSRC and Industry. He has authored over 150 peer-reviewed journal publications and international conference papers and has an h-index of over 38. He has received many awards and special mentions for his work on wearable antennas, reconfigurable antennas, 3D-printed antennas, and frequency selective surfaces.

Antennas and propagation, Communication Networks, Electronic Circuit and Devices, RF and microwave electronic design, Microwave Links, Satellite Communications.   

Supervision

He is an active researcher and excellent supervisor who is always looking for potential PhD students that can be supported by government scholarships (e.g., China Scholarship Council or similar from other countries) or other sources. Outstanding candidates with established publication record have the opportunity to vie for internal scholarships when they become available. 

Professional

He has worked on industrial projects related to Antennas, RF and microwave design. He has worked with Huawei Ltd, Leonardo U.K., Megger, Harada, and other industrial partners.
