Dr. Sanz received the B.Sc. from the ULPGC, Spain, and the M.Sc. and Ph.D. degrees from the University of Kent, U.K. He holds a Masters in Business Administration degree (MBA) from Canterbury Christ Church University, UK. Prior to becoming a lecturer in 2013, he was a Research Associate with the School of Engineering and Digital Arts, where he worked on EPSRC funded projects. In 2012, he worked for Harada Industries Ltd on the development of novel antennas for the automotive industry. In 2017, he was visiting fellow at Selex E.S. where he worked on reconfigurable antennas for the defense industry. Since 2015, he has been EPSRC High Value Manufacture fellow which involves working with the Centre of Process Innovation on the development of Innovative 3D printing solutions for antenna applications.
His main research interests are multiband antennas, wearable microwave devices, substrate integrated waveguides components, electromagnetic band-gap structures and frequency selective surfaces. Currently, he is involved in projects in he area of additive manufacturing (3D printing) for electromagnetic device fabrication. His research has been funded by the Royal Society, the Royal Academy of Engineering, the EPSRC. He has authored more than 100 peer-reviewed journal publications and international conference papers and has h-index of over 23. He has received many awards and special mentions for his work on wearable antennas, reconfigurable antennas, 3D printed antennas and frequency selective surfaces.
He is an active researcher and excellent supervisor who is always looking for potential PhD students that can be supported by government scholarships (e.g., China Scholarship Council or similar government scholarships in other countries) or other sources.
