Technology Enhanced Learning

The main link to Moodle (moodle.kent.ac.uk) will take you to the "live" Moodle environment for the current academic year. To access Moodle content for previous academic years, append the Moodle URL to include the relevant year of study, for example, moodle.kent.ac.uk/2017

Moodle is the University of Kent's Virtual Learning Environment (VLE). Every taught module has an associated Moodle module available for staff to deliver online teaching resources and interactive activities to students, who are automatically enrolled their modules.

Moodle provides tools to support the learning experience, such as assignment submission, forums, wikis, and quizzes. YouTube or KentPlayer recordings can be embedded or linked to in the module.

During the Spring, new Moodle modules are created for the new academic year for all modules. Teachers and convenors listed in the teaching timetable will be given access automatically. Students enrolled on the module in SDS are enrolled in Moodle. Staff can choose to add content to the empty module or import content from a previous academic year, using a process called "rollover". Once the module is ready for use, the lecturer makes it available to students and guests.

Old modules

At the end of each academic year, Moodle modules are moved to an archive. These archives will allow staff and registered students to access the resources used in previous academic years. You can go directly to the archive via links in the navigation bar at the top of every page in Moodle or by appending the Moodle URL to include the relevant year of study, for example, moodle.kent.ac.uk/2017

Accessing Moodle from a mobile device

When accessed with the browser on a smartphone or tablet device Moodle will adjust the display to fit on that device. You can toggle between the mobile and standard themes by clicking on the theme toggle link at the bottom of any page within Moodle. The Moodle mobile app for Android, Windows or iOS works for many, but not all, functions. Do not use any other third party apps, as entering your password into them will breach security. We welcome feedback on Moodle's mobile theme and functionality; if you have any comments please contact elearning@kent.ac.uk.

Information for Staff
