Research

The School of Economics has a strong research culture and an established reputation in several fields, particularly applied microeconomics (labour and agri-environmental), quantitative macroeconomic theory, macro and microeconometrics and economic development.

In the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, 85% of our staff were submitted and 84% of their research was judged to be of ‘international quality’ or better. Much of the policy impact we claimed was judged to be ‘very considerable or outstanding’.
