Research in the School

We have a thriving research community. Our staff produce world-class research, publish regularly in leading academic journals and foster research partnerships around the world.

The School of Economics has an established reputation in a number of fields of research, particularly applied microeconomics (labour and agri-environmental), quantitative macroeconomic theory, macro and microeconometrics and economic development.

In the Research Excellence Framework (REF) 2014, 85% of our staff were submitted and 84% of their research was judged to be of ‘international quality’ or better. Much of the policy impact we claimed was judged to be ‘very considerable or outstanding’.
