Overview

This module discusses the legal processes associated with the submission of evidence in the courts of law alongside providing training in the delivery of expert witness testimony. Students will undergo a mock courtroom exercise in which they will deliver expert testimony in a courtroom environment.

Learning outcomes

On successfully completing the module students will be able to:

1. Demonstrate advanced knowledge and understanding of the legal processes associated with the submission of evidence in the courts of law.
2. Demonstrate an understanding of the documentation that is submitted by forensic expert witnesses when giving evidence in the courts.
3. Present scientific material and arguments clearly and correctly, in writing and orally, to a range of audiences, including the courts.

  1. Credit level 6. Higher level module usually taken in Stage 3 of an undergraduate degree.
