European and International Travel

As the UK's European University, Kent has great links to Europe and is close to many of the UK's main airports.

Travelling to Europe

Eurostar

Eurostar trains are run by Eurostar International Limited.

Eurostar is the high-speed passenger train which runs via the Channel Tunnel from London St.Pancras, Ebbsfleet and Ashford International to Calais, Lille, Paris & Brussels.

It takes around 2 hours 15 minutes to travel 495 km (307 miles) from London to Paris.

From Canterbury West catch the train to Ashford Internation, Ebbsfleet Internation or London St. Pancras to board the Eurostar. From Chatham catch the train to Ebbsfleet Internation or London St. Pancras.

 

Ferries from Dover Port

Ferries, including those operated by DFDS Seaways and P&O, go from the Port of Dover to Calais or Dunkirk.

From Canterbury catch either the train from Canterbury East to Dover Priory and then board the bus to Dover Eastern Docks or use the bus, Service 15A, from Canterbury bus station to the docks.

From Medway catch the train from Chatham to Dover Priory and then board the bus to Dover Eastern Docks.

 

International Travel

Kent has good air connections with Europe and the World due to its proximity to several major international airports.

There are regular flights from the airports listed below to destinations all over the World. All are easy to get to from Canterbury and Medway.
