Learning to play tennis doesn't happen overnight. It takes time and patience to learn your play style, your strengths, and to be mentally and physically ready to take on this challenging game.
We offer a range of options to help you develop your abilities in a group coaching environment.
Adult coaching provides the perfect opportunity to develop your skills among a friendly group.
Children will learn the basics of tennis in a fun and social environment. For ages 4 to 18.
Join our weekly Wheelchair Tennis sessions on Mondays and Thursdays - wheelchairs provided!
Each of our tennis courses is split by experience level, from beginner through to advanced, with tailored content within each to ensure progress is being made. Group coaching courses can be booked further in advance than recreational court bookings or social tennis sessions.
LTA Youth Start is a starter course for kids, comprising 6 high-quality sessions, that introduce tennis to children in a fun and relaxed environment. Youth Start programme includes:

Although we're situated on the University of Kent's Canterbury campus, we're open to everyone including students, staff, alumni, and members of the public.
Many of our sessions are open to beginners and there is no previous experience needed. We also offer more advanced lessons for those looking to develop their tennis skills.
You will need a minimum of Kent Sport Pay to Play membership to access our Group Coaching sessions. You can create your free Pay to Play membership through our online booking site.
We also offer a range of annual and one-month membership options for students, staff, alumni, and public members. Visit our memberships webpage for more details.
Group Tennis Coaching (Adult, Junior, and Wheelchair tennis) is bookable through the LTA ClubSpark website.
If you want to book social tennis sessions or courts for recreational games, you will need a Kent Sport membership and booking is through the Kent Sport online booking portal.
You can join an Adult, Junior, or Wheelchair course at any point. There is no requirement to start at the beginning of the course, though we would recommend starting at the beginning to guarantee you get the most from the course.

When you book our Group Coaching sessions we can provide all equipment you'll need, including rackets and balls.
For wheelchair tennis sessions, we will also provide the wheelchairs as part of the session.
If you're booking a tennis court for recreational play, you'll need to supply your own equipment. However, tennis balls are available to purchase from The Pavilion reception.
We would advise comfortable clothing while playing, and clean non-marking footwear (trainers are fine). Changing facilities are available within The Pavilion.
