About

Ian has over 20 years’ experience as a pensions actuary, and previously worked for Aon and its predecessor organisations. His roles there included Scheme Actuary to one of Aon’s own staff pension schemes, Team Manager, and the lead for Aon’s largest global client events.

As the Employability Officer for SMSAS Ian focuses on supporting students taking the early steps in their career: providing practically-focused lectures. He has received several ‘Above and Beyond’ awards from students reflecting the quality of his lectures.

Professional

Ian has been heavily involved in the work of the Institute and Faculty of Actuaries (IFoA), over many years.

Currently, he is a member of the Pensions Board, and is the Module Lead for the Pensions Exams SP4, SA4 and P4. He has taught on behalf of the IFoA in Armenia, India, Ghana and Albania.

He has previously been a member of the IFoA’s Education Committee and of Panels reviewing Actuarial Science courses at universities around the world, to ensure the quality standards of the Exemptions process are maintained.
