Admin staff in the School of Arts are celebrating being Highly Commended in the Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards.

The School of Arts’s admin team was Highly Commended in the Outstanding Departmental Administration Team category of this year’s awards presented in London on 18 June. The School’s Student Support team was shortlisted in the same awards last year and its admin team was a joint winner of the University’s first Administration Excellence Awards presented in May 2015.

The Times Higher Education Leadership and Management Awards (known as the THELMAs) celebrate best examples of innovation, teamwork and enterprise among support teams in UK higher education institutions.

The School of Arts Admin team was recognised for excellent relationships with the academics and for their own initiatives including:

Professor Peter Stanfield, Head of the School of Arts, said: ‘The simple fact is that our admin team is superb… Academics and students are the beneficiaries of the hard work and dedication given to the School by colleagues who go above and beyond what is required of them.’

A second team from the University was shortlisted for this year’s THELMAs – the Development Office, in the Outstanding Development/Alumni Relations Office category, for its work on the Kent Law Campaign.
