A team from Kent Law School will be abseiling 135 feet down an office building to raise funds for Canterbury Housing Advice Centre (CHAC).

The abseil down Miller House in Maidstone with the KM Charity Team will take place on Sunday 15 March.

The team is made up of Head of School Professor Didi Herman, Senior Law Lecturer Dr Karen Devine, Assistant Lecturer Janie Clement-Walker, Office Manager’s Assistant Amy Parkes and first year Kent Film student Amy Brown, who is also a volunteer for Canterbury Homeless Outreach.

Together they aim to help CHAC, which suffered major funding cuts in 2014, raise more than £40,000 in 2015 to continue meeting demand for its services.

Founded in 1991, CHAC works to prevent homelessness in Canterbury, Whitstable and Herne Bay. Specialist caseworkers support people at risk of eviction or repossession. They offer free and independent advice on mortgage arrears, tenancy rights and housing benefit.

Staff at Kent Law School previously raised £850 for CHAC, a charity which is chaired by Nick Jackson, a Senior Law Lecturer at the School.
