The Kent Law Campaign Student Group held its second annual 5km Fun Run around the Canterbury campus to raise over £4,500.

Over 100 runners took part in the race, which was officially started by the Lord Mayor of Canterbury, Ann Taylor. Every finisher was presented with a medal and goody bag. Fastest male was Peter Gleissner with a time of 21:29, fastest female was Stephanie Bourgeois (27:10) and best fancy dress was Ciaron Watts, founder of the Pirate Society.

Sponsors of the race included Lexis Nexis, Dumbrells, the Running Outlet, Clarins, Red Oak Roller, Booker, Nando’s and Woody’s. The campus branch of Santander has been very supportive of the campaign and matched all funds raised through the registration fees.

The Kent Law Campaign is a £5 million fundraising project to build a new home for the Kent Law Clinic and Mooting Programme. The campaign has already raised £3.4 million in donations, pledges and match-funding from the University. Construction of the new building will start in early 2015 and Kent Law School staff and students will move in in spring 2016.

The Kent Law Campaign Student Group is still waiting for further sponsorship money to come in for the race, but to date has raised £4,684.90.
