An apprentice at the University’s Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships has won a top national award.

Charlotte Hughes, a GlaxoSmithKline Laboratory Analyst Apprentice, has been named national Higher or Degree Apprentice of the Year at the 2017 National Apprenticeship Awards.

The National Apprenticeship Awards showcase the breadth of apprenticeships on offer in a range of industries across the country.

The University launched its Centre for Higher and Degree Apprenticeships in 2016. The Centre works in partnership with regional and national employers to develop apprenticeships tailored to their needs.

Centre Director Dr Scott Wildman said Charlotte Hughes’ success was well deserved as she was an ‘outstanding’ scientific apprentice.

Kent currently works with industry-leading employers including GlaxoSmithKline, Pfizer, AstraZeneca, Novartis and Unilever.
