If you are an international student, there may be scholarships available for students from your country so check our page for international postgraduate students. Also, see our pages on American and Canadian loans, and Fulbright scholarships.
The University of Kent values its graduates and alumni, and is pleased to offer special schemes to assist with the cost of postgraduate study:
- the Alumni Loyalty Discount offers a 10% reduction on the cost of the first year's fees
- the Graduate School Scholarship provides a scholarship of £1,000 towards the first year's fees for those moving directly from undergraduate to postgraduate study.
Please note that the Alumni Loyalty Discount cannot be used in conjunction with the Graduate School Scholarship. Students should apply for either the Alumni Loyalty Discount or the Graduate School Scholarship, whichever provides the greater discount.
Professional and Career Development Loans
UK students may wish to consider the Professional Career Development Loan as a way to fund postgraduate study. These are commercial bank loans that students can use to help pay for work-related learning. You need to have been resident in the UK for at least three years.
Erasmus + Master Degree Loan
A loan of €12,000 or €18,000 available to eligible students who wish to study at Master’s level in a different Erasmus + Programme country. Currently the scheme is available through banks in Spain and France and UK, for outgoing students from these countries pursuing postgraduate study abroad and students from other Programme countries going to Spain, France or UK for a Master’s programme. For full details and to apply, see the Erasmus + Master Degree Loan web page.
Other funding opportunities
Kent also provides a variety of other financial support opportunities for postgraduate students. These range from a generous number of research studentships, through to location-specific funding, sport and music scholarships, and funding specifically for overseas fee–paying students.
